What is cell phone unlocking?
Cell phone unlocking is the removal of a lock code that the service provider has set on the phone to block it from use with another service provider. When a phone is unlocked it may be used with a different carrier. GSM phones can be used with T-Mobile, Cingular, AT&T, Orange, Vodafone, Fido, Rogers, Cellular One, Suncom, TelCel, or any other GSM service provider. IDEN phones may be used with Boost Mobile, Telus, Nextel, Southern Linc, Mike, or any other IDEN network in the world. CDMA phones may be unlocked and then reprogrammed to work with Cricket, Verizon, Alltel, Metro PCS, Sprint, Qwest, US Cellular, or any other CDMA service provided that the service provider is willing to activate the phone on their network.
Is cell phone unlocking legal?
Yes, cell phone unlocking is legal in most countries, including the United States of America. An exemption was passed in November of 2006 making it legal to circumvent technology in cell phones. Cell phone unlocking is legal as long as the IMEI or ESN numbers are not tampered with in any way. All of our unlocking solutions do not make any changes to the ESN or IMEI number of any cell phone. We will not change the phones electronic serial number because that is against the law so please do not ask.
Will unlocking damage my phone?
Absolutely not! Some other unlocking services sell software that requires a flash (write) to phone in order to unlock it. All of our software and equipment works without flashing or writing anything to the phone. Our software simply reads the unlock code and automatically enters it into the phone without doing anything else that could potentially cause damage. In addition to unlocking software we also offer unlock codes that can be found in the Motorola, Cingular, or T-Mobile database so you can simply enter the code to the phones keypad and it will be unlocked!
Why do you have a Carrier and Manufacturer method? Which one is right for me?
Our network carrier unlocks are by far the most cost efficient and fastest of our services. The turnaround times for the network methods vary from 1hr - 48 hours.
Sometimes however, a code can not be generated for your GSM device using this method. If that is the case the Manufacturer method could be an option for you. The processing times and the costs are a lot longer than our network methods but the success rate of generating a code with this method are very high.
Use the manufacturer method as well if you wish to unlock a device that's not locked to one of our network carrier options. It works great with GSM devices locked to Spainstar, Bouygues France, Telcel Mexico, Movistar Spain etc...
What does it mean when my code is "Not Found"?
In almost all cases "Not Found" will appear when:
- The incorrect IMEI number was given to us. The best method to find your number is to press *#06# on your phone. Sometimes the phone may of been refurbished so the box and or parts may have the wrong IMEI number. As well check to make sure that each digit is correct.
- The order was submitted incorrectly. For example, submitting an order for a Rogers unlock code when in fact the order should of been submitted as a Cingular unlock code.
It is usually rare that we actually get legitimate "Not Found" results if your order was submitted correctly. Unfortunately If you do get a "Not Found", we aren't able to unlock your device using that particular method you requested. We can either credit you for another unlock of the same price, recommend a manufacturers' method, or simply issue you a full refund as our customer policy states.
The code you gave me doesn't work. Why?
99% of the time the code will work as they come from 2 sources: the phone manufacturers, or your service provider. If you see a four digit code, then the problem is not that it is locked to a network, but simple your phone is on security lock. If that is the case you have to go to you service provider. Otherwise, if the 16 digits or 8 digits code does not work, you must provide video proof that your has not been unlocked for a full refund.
I purchased your product. But now I want a refund!
Once your code has been retrieved and found there are absolutely no refunds. However, if the code has not been found or if comes back "Not Found" we will gladly refund you 100%.
